Toronto’s Endloop Studios, founded by Ken Seto and Garry Seto, believe everyone can make time to be healthy. The company has successfully released award-winning apps, namely iMockups and Arcade Solitaire, but today they’ve come forth and launched the “Scientific 7-Minute Workout” for iOS devices.
The 7-minute workout app is optimized for iPhone 5 and can be used on any iOS device – this is for people who “can’t find the time to commit to a gym” and is reportedly “better than jogging for 30 minutes.” Looks like it’s a time saver, but it’ll cost you $0.99 and competes with other “high intensity” 7-minute workout apps.” The app, as expected, is elegantly designed.
There’s 30 seconds worth of exercising, followed by 10 seconds of resting. Here’s the 7-minutes of actual exercises in detail, but there’s animated instructions within the app: Jumping Jacks, Wall Sit, Push Ups, Abdominal Crunch, Step-up, Squats, Tricep dips, Plank, High knees, Lunges, Push-ups and rotations and Side plank.
After you complete the workout you have the option to share via Facebook. However, a cool addition to the app would to include some sort of achievements/badges beyond the standard “great job.” Plus, perhaps a mobile commerce play that gives users coupons or discounts to a healthly drink, or 10% off at your Yoga store, etc. In addition, completely missing is a community where you can see what others are doing – this will increase adoption and competition. Finally, hopefully Endloop comes out with the option to change the avatar from only a women to several male/female options.
“As a busy entrepreneur, I know all too well about the importance of staying active and fit. The issue is that there often aren’t enough hours in the day to fit in a typical workout. The Scientific 7-Minute Workout app was created to remedy this.” said Ken Seto, co-founder of Endloop Studios.
