WeTeachStartup giving away five free tickets to entrepreneurship bootcamp

DevHub

Last week, serial entrepreneur and IBM Canada entrepreneur program lead Qasim Virjee announced the launch of WeTeachStartup, a two-day bootcamp on May 27-28 promising to give entrepreneurs a crash course in building a startup.

BetaKit is partnering with WeTeachStartup to send five lucky people (tickets valued at $500 each) to the bootcamp. Just tell us in the comment section below why you would benefit from taking part in the bootcamp, and we’ll select the winners raffle-style at the BetaKit office.

The bootcamp, which is taking place at devHub at Lighthouse Labs, will include panels and keynotes with Omar Dhalla of Real Ventures, MaRS investment manager Mark Smith, and Sleep Nora co-founder and IDEO fellow Behrouz Hariri. During the weekend, WeTeachStartup will cover business modelling and validation using the lean canvas method, sources of finances (such as pursuing SR&ED, government grants, and equity from angels and VCs), and the best way to pitch a company including feedback from industry professionals. Workshop sessions will be set in a classroom setting where startups will plan and test their business, and at the end, entrepreneurs can connect with entrepreneurs, investors, and CTOs at WeTeachStartup’s invite-only networking social.

Whether you want to learn the basics of building a business before pursuing your idea — or just need a refresher — feel free to comment below for a chance to win. Winners will be announced this Friday, May 20.

For everyone else, BetaKit readers still receive a 50 percent discount on tickets when they use the promo code BetaKit. Tickets can be purchased here.
