Tangerine and PC Financial announce support for Apple Pay

Tangerine

Everyone remembers just a few months back when Apple Pay made a huge splash in the Canadian mobile payments space. On Tuesday, Tangerine and PC Financial joined the list of Canadian banks that support Apple Pay.

Since the rollout started, all five major financial institutions have built support for Apple Pay into their mobile payments platform. These include CIBC, RBC, ATB Financial, Canadian Tire Financial Services, TD Canada Trust, BMO and Scotiabank.

Tangerine recently launched version 2.0.2 of the Tangerine Mobile Banking App, which supports Apple Pay for the Tangerine money-back credit card. PC Financial, who’s “personal banking services are provided by the direct banking division of CIBC,” has also updated its app to support Apple Pay. However, both financial institutions currently only support their respective MasterCard credit cards.

Apple Pay is compatible with the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, and the Apple Watch when paired with the iPhone 5 or later.
