This week, Canadian companies added key staff to take themselves to the next level. Hootsuite announced that Penny Wilson, former Juniper Networks and Macromedia executive, will lead Hootsuite’s marketing organization to help drive the growth of its customer base.

With 30 years of experience under her belt, Wilson boasts accomplishments like leading Macromedia’s worldwide marketing efforts up to and through Macromedia’s successful $3.4 billion acquisition by Adobe Systems Inc. The news follows rumoursthat Hootsuite would bring in top executives to prepare for its IPO.

“Hootsuite is an innovative company with a remarkable brand and customer base. I’m excited to join such an energetic team with a great track record, and look forward to helping Hootsuite continue to revolutionize the way businesses communicate using social media,” said Wilson, CMO of Hootsuite.

At the same time, Sensibill added Mark Cohon, former CFL commissioner, and financial services veteran Michael Woeller to their board of directors. Woeller has served for 20 years as an IT executive for Canada Trust, TD Bank, and CIBC. He’s also served on industry boards including Interac and MasterCard Canada.

“Mike brings a wealth of expertise having led pivotal changes at some of the largest financial institutions in North America,” said Sensibill founder and CEO Corey Gross. “Having Mike on our board raises all boats: his years of insight into challenges faced by large organizations provide an important perspective as Sensibill scales its operations.”

Cohon has held executive roles with Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association and NBA Europe, and served as President and CEO of AudienceView, an e-commerce and ticketing solutions company. He will act as chairman of the board. “He is an accomplished leader who epitomizes the culture of passion, integrity and execution excellence that Sensibill is building,” said Gross. “We look forward to his continued contribution as Sensibill enters its growth phase.”
