Kevin Kimsa departs OMERS Ventures

OMERS Ventures

Bloomberg is reporting that OMERS Ventures managing director Kevin Kimsa departed the Canadian VC firm in July.

Kimsa joined OMERS in 2013 and sat on the boards of several high-profile startups, including OMERS’s portfolio companies such as Vision Critical and Wave accounting. Although Kimsa declined to state the reason for his departure, he confirmed to Bloomberg over telephone that he no longer sits on any OMERS-related boards.

“As an accomplished entrepreneur, Kevin has a deep, hands-on understanding of what it takes to build and operate great companies. His knowledge and experience will be of huge value to OMERS Ventures, our portfolio companies and investment partners,” said John Ruffolo, CEO of OMERS Ventures, at the time of Kimsa’s hiring.

Kimsa also told Bloomberg that he is currently investigating opportunities for other board positions within tech companies, and is considering personal investment in startups.
