Wattpad announced that it has appointed Lindsey Ramey as Wattpad Studios’ director of content development and production.

Ramey will join Wattpad’s content development and production team in Los Angeles, where she will work with local entertainment studios, producers, and writers to turn Wattpad stories into film, TV, and digital media projects. Wattpad said Ramey will report to Eric Lehrman, who joined Wattpad Studios as head of content development and production in April 2017.

“Lindsey’s appointment is both the next step in our entertainment expansion and a signal that our data-backed approach is working,” said Aron Levitz, head of Wattpad Studios. “Lindsey’s expertise in content development is an incredible asset to our Wattpad Studios team and will prove indispensable to our partners, allowing them to turn viral Wattpad hits into films, TV show, and streaming series that audiences will love.”

Director of content development and production Lindsey Ramey is joining Wattpad as the company expands into new markets in Europe and Southeast Asia.

Ramey was previously a producing consultant for Super Deluxe overseeing the original series This Close and Magic Funhouse. Before that, she served as vice president at Heydey Films and Hypnotic, where she oversaw the development for the feature film slates.

“Wattpad’s global audience and data-based approach to entertainment are doing what no one else is in a position to do: transform the industry with insights,” said Ramey. “I’m excited to be joining this quickly growing team to bring original stories to life and work with writers to turn their projects into films, television shows, and digital projects.”

Ramey is joining Wattpad as the company expands into new markets in Europe and Southeast Asia. Earlier this year, Wattpad raised $61.25 million to expand its reach in TV, film, digital media, and publishing, and to experiment with new storytelling formats. In April, the company appointed Dexter Ong as head of Asia for Wattpad Studios.

Last week, Wattpad also announced that it will host Pen Your Pride write-a-thon throughout Pride Month, a collaboration between Wattpad, Ben & Jerry’s Canada, and International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association (ILGA).

Throughout the month, Wattpad users can contribute stories of coming out, finding love, exploring gender identities, or how they’ve been an ally and created awareness for LBTIQ+ rights and equality. For every story submitted with the hashtag #WattPride, Wattpad will donate $1 up to a total of $10,000 to ILGA to support the organization’s work related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression.

“Wattpad is a place where people feel safe to share their authentic voices, experiences, and creativity,” said Chris Stefanyk, head of brand partnerships at Wattpad. “Around the world LGBTIQ+ youth have been able to express themselves on Wattpad in a way they can’t anywhere else, creating a community of users celebrating diversity, positivity, and ultimately, love in all forms. Creating a space for more people to share their stories can change the world, so we’re thrilled to work with Ben & Jerry’s and ILGA to support Pride Month and help LGBTIQ+ youth and allies continue telling their stories.
