Volta Labs’ first Volta Cohort Pitch Event is set to take place on November 14 in Halifax.

From the 15 startups that have been selected to pitch their businesses to a panel of judges, five will be awarded an investment of $25,000. The participating companies were chosen from a pool of 45 online applicants from across the Atlantic provinces.

“The 15 companies selected to pitch represent a snapshot of what is being created in Atlantic Canada.”
– Jesse Rodgers, CEO of Volta

The Volta Cohort program, which is run in collaboration with BDC Capital and Innovacrop, gives the winning startups an opportunity to receive mentorship from entrepreneurs and financial support to grow their companies.

The judging panel for the event includes Nicole LeBlanc, director of strategic investments for women in tech at BDC Capital; Andrew Ray, investment manager at Innovacorp; and Jesse Rodgers, CEO of Volta Labs.

“This program is about identifying high potential founders and providing them $25,000, along with an intensive program that gives them the opportunity to demonstrate some meaningful success,” said Rodgers. “The 15 companies selected to pitch represent a snapshot of what is being created in Atlantic Canada, which is really exciting given the level of innovation and potential we saw in the application process.”
