Video streaming software provider Haivision acquires Teltoo

Montreal-based Haivision, which develops video streaming solutions for the public and private sector, has acquired Teltoo, another video software startup based in Spain. The price of the acquisition was not disclosed.

“We are well-positioned to achieve our vision of setting the new standard for video streaming delivery.”

Haivision will be integrating Teltoo’s video delivery technology across its products. Haivision said this deal will expand its expertise in cloud-connected live streams. The acquisition of Teltoo comes eight months after Haivision’s acquisition of LightFlow Media Technologies SL, which is also based in Spain.

“Teltoo is a technology innovator in the WebRTC enabled peer-to-peer live video delivery market,” said Mirko Wicha, president and CEO of Haivision. “Teltoo has deep knowledge of applying this technology with unique insights into optimizing network topologies. Combined with our multi-CDN and artificial intelligence expertise, Haivision is once again set to disrupt the video streaming industry.”

Founded in 2004, Haivision has headquarters in Montreal and Chicago, as well as regional offices located throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Haivision has about 200 employees.

The company provides video solutions that help stream broadcast-quality, low-latency video, and works with government, enterprise, and broadcast customers, including Allstate Insurance, BP, the United States Department of Homeland Security, and the National Football League (NFL).

Haivision developed Secure Reliable Transport (SRT), an open-source video transport protocol and technology stack that is aimed to optimize video streaming performance across unpredictable networks.

Teltoo develops peer-to-peer technology that allows video delivery to scale naturally as audiences grow. This decentralized data delivery system is designed to relieve video traffic congestion and reduce the bandwidth needed to reach an audience.

Teltoo aims to improve video delivery by solving unpredictable bandwidth spikes and geographic abnormalities, improve stream speed and rebuffering, and increase available bandwidth to more effectively deliver higher-quality content.

“By pioneering the SRT protocol and the SRT open-source initiative, Haivision has already proved itself to be a leader in our industry,” said Pablo Hesse, CEO of Teltoo. “Together with Haivision, we are well-positioned to achieve our vision of setting the new standard for video streaming delivery.”
