Vancouver Tech Podcast Ep. 25: Softchoice

Vancouver Tech Podcast

Drew and James open with a brief chat about the week in review, a little bit about Microsoft naming, as well as some of the side projects they are working on.

The guest this week is Matt Carolan from Softchoice, an experienced group that offers deep expertise for the design and implementation of advanced IT and cloud solutions.

Matt has been a part of the Vancouver tech community for quite a while now. He is originally from Australia and came to Canada in 2013 after a couple of years in Dubai.

If you are interested in cloud computing, Azure, AWS, and all things server related, then Matt is your man. He gives some great insight into how companies choose their architecture and why it can be tough to find out what makes sense. He also helps break down some of the mystique behind “cloud”, “public cloud”, and “hybrid cloud”. With some companies moving off AWS, Matt gives some reasoning as to why that happens and when it makes sense.

Matt is also the founder and organizer of the Vancouver PUG (public cloud user group) meetup. We discuss some of the awesome meetups that they have had in the past as well as some of the future ones coming up.
