Toronto-based TWG has announced that it is making changes to its executive team.

Derek Watson, who started as a senior software engineer at the company in 2012, has moved from VP of engineering to CTO. Watson will lead TWG’s engineering, product, and design teams.

“[This change] positions TWG for the next phase in our evolution.”

“Over the past six years, Derek transformed our engineering team from a band of coders to a diverse powerhouse of technical leaders that any company in the world would envy,” said managing partner Andrés Aquino. “His knack for building high-performance teams is what will help to propel us further faster as TWG continues to evolve.”

Alisha Patel, who joined TWG in 2015 to build out the finance and admin functions of the company, will take on the role of VP finance and administration. Rob Domagala will also move from director of strategy and new business to lead a new division of TWG focusing on website development, ecommerce, and brand identity. Tom Walsham will take on the newly-minted role of VP product, where his focus will be client strategy and product.

In new additions, Leslie McGill recently joined the team as the company’s new VP of marketing. McGill has 20 years of experience consulting multinationals in the healthcare sector on communication strategies. McGill has spent the last year consulting TWG on its growth strategy.

Speaking with BetaKit, TWG Managing Partner Chris Eben said the new additions and shuffling positions reflected the company’s recent growth trajectory. “The promotion of Derek, Alisha, and Rob along with the change in role for Tom and the addition of Leslie positions TWG for the next phase in our evolution,” he said. “It also ensures we maintain our all-important organizational culture which is one of the keys to TWG’s success.”

In October 2016, TWG acquired B House development agency, bringing its team up to 85 at the time and expanding its focus on mobile product development. The company currently has 120 team members.
