Toronto-based Jibestream, which develops indoor mapping software, has been acquired by Palo Alto-based Inpixon.

The entire Jibestream leadership team and employee base will join Inpixon in the acquisition, and Inpixon said it did not have plans for a headcount reduction. Launched in 2009, Jibestream turns floorplans into interactive representations of indoor spaces, and provides GPS for those indoor locations. In 2017, the company launched SDKs, allowing developers to develop wayfinding and asset tracking features. Its customers include the Mall of America, the Pentagon, and the Westfield World Trade Center.

“Our expanded capabilities will enable us to further deliver on our commitment to make the indoor world digitally addressable.”

“We are all very excited to have joined the Inpixon family,” said Chris Wiegand, Jibestream co-founder and Inpixon’s VP of Maps. “Combined, we have a unique and powerful portfolio, from mapping, sensors, and positioning algorithms to video sensor fusion and even GPS technologies. I’m eager to take Indoor Positioning Analytics (IPA) to our customers and partners. Our expanded capabilities will enable us to further deliver on our commitment to make the indoor world digitally addressable to enhance the way people live, work and play indoors.”

Inpixon’s technology allows customers to find all accessible cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth devices anonymously in an indoor space. Targeted to government-owned locations and businesses, Inpixon provides data on what’s happening indoors, allowing companies to get insight into visitors and build marketing around these insights.

“Inpixon can now offer all four of the essential building blocks needed to make indoor spaces information-rich and helpful: mapping, positioning, analytics and development tools,” said Nadir Ali, Inpixon’s CEO. “We plan to integrate the solutions into an Indoor Location Data Platform, which can ingest all of a customer’s indoor data and present a unified, map-based user interface, to give each user and department a tailored, personal view of the information they need to be successful.”

Ali noted that expanding Inpixon’s portfolio with this acquisition will allow the company to tap into the indoor location market, which is expected to be worth nearly $41 billion USD by 2022. All of Jibestream’s existing customers will continue to get support from Jibestream.
