Toronto-based AlayaCare, which has developed a cloud-based software for healthcare providers, has just received an investment of up to $750,000 from FedDev Ontario, through its Investing in Business Innovation initiative.

Ali Ehsassi, member of parliament for Willowdale, made the announcement on behalf of Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development today.

AlayaCare has developed an end-to-end home healthcare software solution that provides a mix of real-time telehealth and face-to-face visit solutions for healthcare providers. The company’s platform includes features such as instantaneous alerts to supervisors of late or missed visits, GPS tracking to ensure schedule compliance, and the ability to create customizable messages and alerts.

“Our employees, customers and their patients have all witnessed the benefits of well designed and developed software,” said Adrian Schauer, CEO of AlayaCare. “This FedDev Ontario contribution will increase AlayaCare’s scale to push our success further and faster.”

AlayaCare said FedDev Ontario’s $750,000 repayable contribution to the company will allow it to commercialize its home healthcare system throughout North America, with a focus on Canada. AlayaCare added that the funding is also expected to help create up to 11 permanent full-time jobs and help strengthen “the medical software and service industry in southern Ontario.

“Canada’s publicly funded, universal healthcare system is a great source of national pride. Supporting companies, like AlayaCare, which are making advancements in healthcare services is what will keep our nation strong and thriving now and in the future,” said Bains. “FedDev Ontario’s investment in AlayaCare reflects our government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of Canadians, while also supporting economic development through innovation.”

According to Schauer, AlayaCare has doubled in size from 25 to 50 people since its launch in 2014. The company plans to have a 75-person team by the end of 2017.
