TELUS Ventures makes ‘significant investment’ in Get Real Health

Major Canadian telecommunications player TELUS has continued its foray into the health space by making a ‘significant investment’ into Maryland-based Get Real Health. The terms of the deal was not disclosed and will help grow personal health record (PHR) technology and assist patients to manage their own health information.

TELUS Health has been the exclusive InstantPHR partner for Canada since 2011 and according to the release, TELUS and Get Real will use the investment to accelerate the development and bring new features and functionality to the InstantPHR app, expand marketing and sales efforts, plus form new strategic alliances.

“We at Get Real Health are very excited to deepen our excellent relationship with TELUS through this investment. Thanks to our longstanding relationship with TELUS Health, TELUS Ventures had a front-row seat to our rapid growth and our proven track record as a health IT innovator,” said Mark Heaney, Get Real Health CEO and founding partner. “The personal health market is hot—and getting hotter—which makes the timing of this investment a prescient move for TELUS and a game-changing opportunity for us at Get Real Health.”
