Just as Canadians seek vacation destinations to escape the bitter winter, RBC has announced a partnership with Airbnb Canada. For a limited time, RBC is offering its RBC Rewards clients two times the RBC Rewards points when they book an Airbnb anywhere in the world.
RBC Rewards clients who book an Airbnb stay until February 29, 2016 using their RBC Rewards credit card will automatically earn twice the points for every $1 CAD in bookings. At the same time, people booking for the first time on Airbnb will receive an additional 7,000 welcome bonus points. The move is yet another indication that Canada’s larger financial services institutions are looking to adapt to changing consumer habits — the latter of which are turning more to startups for travel, finance, and food.
“In the past year, more than 935,000 Canadians used Airbnb to book their travel, both within Canada and to destinations worldwide,” said Aaron Zifkin, Airbnb country manager for Canada. “By working with RBC Rewards, we are making it even more enticing for Canadians to travel and experience the unique travel experiences Airbnb provides.”
