Halifax-based QRA Corp, which develops enterprise software tools for early-stage validation and verification of engineered systems, has received a $645,000 contract from the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The contract was facilitated through the government’s Build In Canada Innovation Program, which helps Canadian businesses get their solutions procured by relevant federal governments.

For RCAF, QRA Corp is providing its QVscribe toolset, which semi-automates the requirements quality analysis process by identifying ambiguities and inconsistencies. This provides DND teams with a foundation for project development.

The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) is looking to acquire complex equipment and systems, so it is trying to ensure that its Statement of Requirements is clear and unambiguous. QVScribe wants to ensure the quality of the RCAF’s Statement of Requirements.

“Despite the increased presence of advanced technology in today’s sophisticated systems, despite the increased infusion of software throughout our most capable machines, the fist step remains the written word,” said Jordan Kyriakidis, QRA co-founder and CEO. “Clear, consistent, and verifiable requirements, are the first line of defence in building safe, robust, and secure physical systems. We are very happy and proud to be providing the RCAF with our tools and we look forward to working with them to ensure our products meet their present and future needs.”

In July 2016, QRA Corp raised $3 million from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, which it’s using to continue commercialization.
