On Sept. 29, startups interested in learning how to build innovative products from some of Canada’s top companies will convene at MaRs Discovery District to celebrate Product Hunt Toronto’s 2nd year anniversary.
Since its launch, Product Hunt Toronto has been hosting events to let people discover and celebrate how innovative digital products made in Toronto. During the anniversary, people will be able to hear from Breather’s vice president of product, Brandon Reti; Vidyard’s co-founder and chief technology office Devon Galloway, and Shopify’s director of product, Satish Kanwar. Each of these individuals will shed light on how these successful companies build and enhance their products.
“The product community in Toronto is alive and well as we are celebrating two years of gathering makers in the city. It has been an incredible journey and we’re just getting started. If you want to discover coolest products made in Toronto and learn what it takes to build them, join us,” said Daryna Kulya, the organizer of Product Hunt’s 2nd year anniversary.
In the past, Product Hunt has highlighted companies that are disrupting important industries like FinTech and healthtech through their products. This month’s anniversary edition will also feature three new local product demos at the anniversary, including Fiix, which will provide a demo of its website that lets users call an expert mechanic to fix their cars right at home. SimplyInsight will demonstrate how its virtual data analyst can help businesses make better decisions; and Drop, which recently raised $1 million in funding, will demonstrate how people can earn and redeem points on their credit and debit cards at their favourite shops and brands.
For its first year anniversary, Product Hunt brought together Slack product manager Simon Vallee and former Wealthsimple head of product and design Huda Idrees.
“I started Product Hunt TO because that’s an event I wish existed, an event I would want to attend myself,” Kulya said at the time. “I am proud that something I created for myself became so useful to many others. I am truly privileged to work with an awesome team to make this happen.”
