NACO hosting inaugural Western Regional Summit for Angel investors on May 24

On May 24, the National Angel Capital Organization is hosting its first-ever Western Regional Summit in Calgary. It’s the largest regional event for angel investors in Canada.

The event’s goal is to bring together angel investors based in Western Canada for a full day of discussions, insights, and networking. Yuri Navarro, CEO of NACO Canada, said the event is a response to investor requests for more networking opportunities like those offered at NACO’s annual national event — but with a more localized focus.

“Our investors get the most value from building relationships locally and regionally,” said Navarro. “Our mission is to grow and professionalize the Canadian Angel investor ecosystem so they can focus on providing their network, knowledge, and investment capital to growing innovative Canadian companies.”

Speakers at the event include Hernán Fernández, managing partner at Angel Ventures Mexico; Pieter Dorsman, CEO of Redpeaks Management; and Marie Savostianik executive director of the Saskatchewan Capital Network.

“With Alberta’s economy undergoing one of the most tumultuous periods in the Province’s history, we thought it was important to bring the expertise and capital of our Western Angel investor community to Calgary,” said Navarro. “We want to help fill the gaps in the regional innovation funding continuum and ensure Alberta’s best companies have the ability to continue growing locally.”
