Montreal-based LANDR announced today that it has closed a $6.2 million Series A funding round, led by legendary rapper Nas’ QueensBridge Venture Partners, Real Ventures, YUL Ventures, Plus Eight Private Equity, Warner Music Group, Plus Eight Private Equity, and Cirque Du Soleil founders Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier.

LANDR’s software has mastered more tracks than all U.S. music studios combined since its launch last year.

Formerly MixGenius, LANDR has garnered an impressive list of investors for its cloud-based audio post-production software. Driven by machine-learning, LANDR’s software has mastered more tracks than all U.S. music studios combined since its launch last year, topping 1.2 million tracks for over 250,000 subscribers.

“Technology has allowed for more creators to be birthed. More and more music is being made but certain parts of the process don’t have consumer tools to help make fine and crisp finishes,” said Nas in a statement to BetaKit. “I believe LANDR is an affordable groundbreaking technology to help musicians make music that has a quality finish like any major label artist with a budget. I’m excited to help the LANDR team take their technology global.”

In addition to the funding LANDR also announced today the launch of its newest engine, Ionian 1.0. Featuring a redesigned interface, Ionian 1.0 also vastly improved promises genre-detection, machine-learning, dynamics processing (especially in drops and breaks) and mixed-correction.

“We are thrilled to see the music industry rallying behind our technology,” said LANDR CEO Pascal Pilon. “With the relationships we have with musicians such as rapper and producer Nas or with Grammy award-winning audio engineer and producer Mike Latterell, we can now explore the full potential of artificial intelligence as an enabler of creativity. We look forward to working more closely with all artists and labels around the world and to welcoming many more emerging artists to our new platform.”
