[D]congestant Hackathon Toronto

April 1, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - April 3, 2016 @ 5:00 pm

$11.20
cisco

What is it?
On April 1st to 3rd, members of the South Core Innovation Hub and other major employers in downtown Toronto will be putting on a hackathon to tackle the congestion that plagues the rush hour commutes of thousands of employees in the area. By using a policy and technology approach and working with the Mayor’s office as well as half a dozen public and private employers, [D]congestant will aim to reduce the countless productive hours lost to traffic every day.
The Schedule:
Friday, April 1st
Convene at Cisco’s new Innovation Centre. Finalize teams, go over judging criteria and get introduced to the resources that will be available to all participants, including traffic data sources. Celebrate April Fool’s Day!
Saturday, April 2nd
Start early, work through the day and the night to ideate, iterate, and consume copious amounts of caffeine / healthy food options.
Sunday, April 3rd
Start early (again), polish and finalize the solutions and the presentations. The teams present their proposals to the judges, followed by what is sure to be a difficult winner selection process. The winning team goes home with some spectacular prizes, as well as bragging rights.
Who can participate?
The competition is open to all Canadian residents over the age of 18. There is no requirement to be a developer or a designer to participate in this hackathon! The winning idea will be selected based on potential impact as well as a number of other criteria, one of which WILL NOT BE the requirement to develop an app or a website!
Prizes?
We are in the process of locking in the full list of what the top 3 teams will win but here’s a sneak peek:

– $5,000 in cash
