Endy expanding brick-and-mortar presence with immersive retail showroom

Endy has announced that it is expanding its brick-and-mortar presence with a pop-up, “immersive retail showroom” in Toronto, set to open in early April.

The showroom is the ecommerce mattress brand’s first retail showroom, outside of its partnership with Urban Barn, which saw the pair opening 37 showrooms across Canada earlier this year. Endy is calling the retail location its “official Endy showroom” in Toronto and will allow customers to try out the company’s full range of products.

Dubbed ‘The Endy Lodge,’ the store will be opening at Stackt Marketplace in downtown Toronto. Stackt is a new retail location, opening at Bathurst St. and Front St. in Toronto, that will be made out of 120 shipping containers. The marketplace is set to house 30 different businesses from pop-up shops, to restaurants, and art spaces.

Earlier this week Stackt released a sneak peek of its residents, which included BMO Canada, brewer Belgian Moon, and StartUp Here Toronto.

Endy was not originally named on the list but announced Thursday that it will, in fact, join the marketplace with a pop-up shop open from April through November 2019.

“This unique shopping center is the perfect location for an unconventional brand like Endy to open its first immersive retail experience,” the company stated.

The company also noted that its retail location will “not be your typical mattress store.” The shop will offer a “design-forward, one-of-a-kind experience” to allow customers to test out its products before purchasing them online.

“The Endy Lodge highlights the brand’s deep Canadian roots and offers customers a unique, experiential space to test out the Endy assortment,” a spokesperson for Endy said.

The ecommerce brand was acquired by Sleep Country Canada last year. Rajen Ruparell, co-founder and chairman of Endy, and Mike Gettis, co-founder and CEO of Endy, spoke to BetaKit after the acquisition, noting the company’s intention to expand into the brick-and-mortar space in 2019. This new location comes one month after Endy first announced its official move into the brick-and-mortar space, with its Urban Barn partnership.
