This week, the CanCon Podcast hit the road and landed in Vancouver. BetaKit Editor in Chief, Douglas Soltys, sits down with a few members of the Vancouver tech scene to gain insight into what’s popping on the west coast.
First, Douglas interviews a familiar face – Jonathan Narvey, BetaKit’s former west coast editor – for an overview of the scene and to find out what it’s like to transition from reporting on startups to working at one. Joined next by Ray Walia, CEO of Launch Academy and Managing Partner at Victory Square Ventures, Douglas asks about the evolution of Vancouver’s tech ecosystem, Launch Academy’s new Startup Visa status, and the upcoming Traction conference. Finally, Douglas takes a moment with Sean Elbe, self-proclaimed CEO wrangler and Sector Development Manager of Technology at the Vancouver Economic Commission, to hear the city’s pitch on how it can become a global tech hub.
