BetaKit’s Guide to Elevate Main Stage

Elevate Main Stage

Returning for its third year, Elevate is now simply too big for one event guide. So BetaKit has produced a guide to every event and stage taking place across the seven-day festival. You can find a link to each individual guide on our Guide to Elevate 2019 hub page.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing—an event that pushed humanity beyond the limits of its imagination—this year’s Elevate Main Stage is focused on moonshots.

At Meridian Hall, Colonel Chris Hadfield, Canada’s celebrated astronaut and Elevate board co-chair, will keynote Elevate Main Stage with a focus on the festival’s mission: uniting the world’s innovators to solve humanity’s biggest problems, using technology to make a positive impact.

“When you educate a girl, you educate a family, a community, a country.”
– Michelle Obama

Tech leaders with the audacity to chase their dreams can also be found this year on Elevate Main Stage. Sophia Amoruso founded retail brand Nasty Gal at 22, reaching $300 million in annual revenue before filing for bankruptcy. Now, Amoruso is back with Girlboss, a community dedicated to championing women entrepreneurs.

Elevate Main Stage will also feature global icons. Renowned entrepreneur Martha Stewart will join Elevate co-founder and CEO Razor Suleman and Canopy CEO Mark Zekulin to discuss developing a new line of cannabis products. Multi-platinum recording artist Akon will speak on using technology for social good through his Akon Lighting Africa and Akoin projects.

In a separately-ticketed event later that evening, festival pass holders have a chance to watch BMO’s Claudette McGowan in conversation with Michelle Obama, former first lady of the United States and an advocate for the education of women and girls around the world.

“When you educate a girl, you educate a family, a community, a country,” says Obama.

At Elevate Main Stage, attendees will be inspired to think bigger, use their talents to solve the world’s most pressing challenges, and plan their own moonshot.
