Applications open for Techstars Montréal AI Accelerator

Applications for Techstars’ Montréal AI Accelerator are now open until May 12. The Montreal-based accelerator is open to artificial intelligence (AI)-focused startups from around the world, and plans to welcome its fourth cohort this fall.

The program begins September 7, and aims to prepare startups to give their best possible pitch to a room full of investors on Demo Day, which is set to take place December 15.

The accelerator aims to help AI founders grow their startups, raise capital, and network.

Founded three years ago, Techstars Montréal AI focuses on advancing the development and application of AI across industries and markets. The accelerator aims to help AI founders grow and scale their startups, raise capital, define their structure, and increase their exposure to the right clientele.

Bruno Morency, the managing director of the Techstars Montréal AI Accelerator, said the program is looking for startups with a strong tech co-founder that have identified a problem worth solving, plan to use AI to address it, and have access to a quality dataset to train their model.

The accelerator includes funding and mentorship opportunities, as well as access to Techstars’ global network, which includes over 7,400 mentors and 16,900 investors.

The program funds up to $120,000 per team in exchange for a six to 10 percent equity stake in the company. The format for this cohort is yet to be determined, it will either occur in-person, take place virtually, or consist of a hybrid model.

Techstars currently runs 43 accelerator programs around the world. Past program graduates of its Montreal accelerator program include Montreal’s Eli and New Brunswick’s Troj AI.

According to Techstars, over the past 15 years, the organization has run over 2,000 accelerator programs in over 15 countries, serving more than 6,000 founders. Techstars also claims its graduates have raised over $11 billion funding and are now worth over $35 billion in market capitalization
