On May 11, AccelerateOTT is returning to bring together entrepreneurs, mentors, and investors interested in learning about what it takes to build and scale a business.
AccelerateOTT, taking place at the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa, will invite attendees to learn best practices, how to scale a business, as well as tricks of the trade from a variety of tech industry leaders. This year’s speakers include Eamonn Carey, managing director of Techstars; Harley Finkelstein, the COO of Shopify; and Jessica Scorpio, founder and CMO at Getaround.
“We’ve had so many amazing Canadian companies go through Techstars over the last few years, including Ottawa’s own Zighra and Hyre,” said Carey. “I am excited to work with Invest Ottawa, meeting one-on-one with many of the local companies and taking in such a dynamic ecosystem”.
With this year’s theme being Growth Hacking, AccelerateOTT will give entrepreneurs the chance to listen to talks on product marketing, analog growth hacking, and demystifying data.
Invest Ottawa has hosted the Accelerate series for the past five years. The non-profit economic development agency has worked with over 1200 startups and helped over 550 companies grow.
“The stars are aligning for entrepreneurship in the city of Ottawa,” said Michael Tremblay, CEO of Invest Ottawa who joined the organization in January. “We are building expertise in emerging fields such as autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, and 5G. Our exciting Innovation Centre has come online, our government partners are expanding their commitment to knowledge-based industries and incredible companies such as Amazon, Shopify, QNX, Nokia [are] expanding their operations, looking to hire thousands of top-tier talent in the next few years.”
