AccelerateAB announces 2016 lineup of speakers, including Google Canada executive

AccelerateAB, Alberta’s flagship technology event, has announced its latest lineup of speakers for its 2016 conference, taking place in Edmonton on April 27.

This year’s keynote speech is kicking off with Katie McLean, Western Canada Territory Manager of Google. She’s had experience working on sales and marketing for companies like Xerox, HP, and Oracle, and has worked closely with tech startups in the past.

“Through my work with Google I have been able to see first-hand the growth of Alberta’s technology industry,” said McLean. “Events like AccelerateAB are essential to enabling the community to seed future partnerships, innovations, and successes that would not have been possible without the opportunity to engage with each other. Also, as a woman in tech, I am excited to participate in a conference that has made diversity a part of its goals.”

Benevity CEO Bryan de Lottinville will be closing off the event to discuss attracting top talent; de Lottinville’s social enterprise has grown from 90 to 220 employees, added almost 100 new enterprise clients, and raised $38 million.

This year’s panels include of a wide range of thought leaders across industries, such as entrepreneurs, investors, key leaders, and partners of the technology sector from across the province. The panel participants include Kristina Williams, CEO of Alberta Enterprise Corporation; Cory Fries, VP Investments & Legal at Alberta Innovate Technology Future; Patrick Lor, Co-Founder of Dissolve; and Michelle Scarborough, Senior VP at Kensington Venture Partners.

The speeches and panels will touch on raising funding in Alberta’s current landscape, building a multi-million dollar company in Alberta, and lessons learned from founders.
