Do Canadian entrepreneurs take risks?

BetaKit Podcast recording
It's a tech summer vibe check as the BetaKit Podcast answers listener questions.

Welcome to an hour-long podcast entirely dedicated to discussing the recent Twitter rebrand.

“I don’t think our entrepreneurs are not risk takers; I just don’t think our culture is set up to accept those risk takers.”

Worry not, we would never do that to you. Instead, we have a Canadian tech summer vibe check answering submitted listener/viewer questions.

With no special guest this month, Rob and I devolve into playing a game of Battleship, trying to sink each other with difficult tech questions.

And while some of the submitted questions reflected the vibe we were hoping for (summer videogame choices, advice on the latest in tech fashion), we did get some doozies: on the low government trust battery in the wake of another cabinet shuffle, cleantech tax credit delays, and a Hypergrowth program designed to pick winners; whether or not Canada can handle 10,000 H-1B visa applicants given our national housing crisis; and yes, whether or not Canadian entrepreneurs are taking risks and “solving big problems.”

The trust battery might be low but the pod battery is at an all-time high. Let’s dig in!
