Volta and Atlantic Lottery hackathon wants tech to bring smart home solutions to gaming

Halifax-based Volta, a hub that provides mentorship and resources for Halifax’s startup community, has partnered with the Atlantic Lottery to host a hackathon seeking solutions that change the way people interact with buildings and appliances.

The Atlantic Lottery Hackathon.002: Smart Home Revolution will be hosted from February 24 to February 26, and will give participants the opportunity to build a solution around the theme of the “smart home revolution” and its impact on lottery and gaming.

Solutions should demonstrate how smart home technology can influence the world of lottery games; the organizers gave the example of a smart fridge app that lets you play games of chance based on the products you buy.

After pitching to a panel of three judges, three winners will be chosen to take home a top prize of $2,000; a second place prize of $1,250; and a third place prize of $850.
