Vancouver-based Trulioo, which produces ID verification software for compliance and fraud risk mitigation, has won the award for the Innovation in Cyber Security/Anti-Fraud at the 2016 FinTech Innovation Awards, an annual event recognizing innovative financial technology and pioneers.

The event was held at The Brewery in London, England. Trulioo was recognized for its flagship identity verification platform/API, GlobalGateway. GlobalGateway helps businesses validate the identities of more than 4 billion people in over 40 countries, and targets emerging markets where many people have little to no access to the traditional banking system. By comparing registration information against information collected and hosted by secure data sources, GlobalGateway provides real-time identity verification around the world through a single integration.

“We are truly honoured to receive this prestigious award,” said Zac Cohen, General Manager at Trulioo. “FinTech continues to be at the forefront of innovation, and that requires equally innovative RegTech solutions for risk management, security, and fraud. Our Compliance-as-a-Service technology addresses that need, enabling pioneering technologies to grow their businesses and protect their users on a global scale.”

In December last year, Trulioo raised $15 million to bring Global Gateway to the banking industry, and was recognized in KPMG’s FinTech 100.
