Tom Emrich explains Canada’s Wearable Wave

Tom Emrich

Regular readers of BetaKit should be at this point completely familiar with Tom Emrich, one of our Senior Editors and the foremost authority on wearable tech. But those not regularly on the cutting-edge tech tip may be unaware of the ‘Wearable Wave’ currently overtaking Canada and the world.

Tom was a guest on BNN today, explaining why fitness and wellness are the fastest moving categories in wearable tech. “People understand the value of a fitness device,” he said, citing the recent Hexoskin/Best Buy partnership as an example of a major retailer betting big on fitness wearables for consumers.

Tom was also quick to note that while the wearable movement is worldwide, Canadian’s can take some pride in the fact that it started here. It’s a legacy that Tom thinks will continue. “We are an epicentre of wearable technology,” he said.
