Slack celebrates second birthday with 2.3 million daily active users

Almost a year ago today, Slack celebrated its first birthday with 500,000 daily active users and more than 60,000 teams using the platform.

As the company celebrates its second birthday — which is technically February 12 — it released an infographic highlighting that it now has 2.3 million daily active users, has grown to 369 employees, and has over $64 million in annual recurring revenue.

Toronto is among the top 10 cities using Slack at tenth place — down from sixth place last year.

Slack also reported that it now has 280 apps in the Slack App directory; in December, Slack CEO Stewart Butterfield said that the company launched its $80 million VC fund to encourage third party integration.

As the company enjoys steady user growth, it will also be interesting to see how it will continue to protects its user privacy; in March, the company let its users know that hackers gained unauthorized access to a Slack database storing user profile information.
