Shopify launches iOS keyboard to help merchants promote their products on social networks

Shopify

Shopify has announced the launch of an iOS keyboard that it says can help merchants better promote their products.

When a customer messages a Shopify retailer through apps like iMessage, Snapchat, and Facebook messenger with specific questions — such as asking if there are high heels in red — retailers can tap a world icon on their keyboard. This gives the retailer access to a searchable list of their store’s products that they can include in their message.

“Shopify merchants will now have their product inventory at their fingertips with Shopkey – the new iOS keyboard,” said Fahd Ananta, Product Manager at Shopify. “Shopkey is an essential tool in the world of conversational commerce and customer support, as it allows our merchants to seamlessly talk to their customers.”

The iOS keyboard also automatically attaches a tracking tag called a UTM code to each link shared using Shopkey, so retailers can see if orders are coming in more frequently from certain platforms and coordinate marketing efforts based on these insights.
