SHOES.COM partners with Slyce to make shoe-buying a snap

Slyce SHOES.COM partnership

Vancouver-based SHOES.COM has partnered with Toronto’s Slyce to help shoppers across the country quickly purchase shoes with a snap of their smartphone camera.

SHOES.COM will use Slyce’s 3D mobile image recognition platform to enable mobile visitors of SHOEme.ca to snap a picture of any piece of footwear and be presented with all direct or closest matching options in the website’s product line for purchase. Sylce’s platform is versatile enough to recognize shoes both captured in the real world or from a magazine page.

“The integration of this visual search technology will empower our customers to capture images they’re inspired by, and then seamlessly search for these products on SHOEme.ca,” said SHOES.COM co-founder and CEO, Roger Hardy. “This is the type of next-generation shopping experience that embodies our company mission.”

SHOEme.ca is one of many sites in the SHOES.COM empire, which offers a selection of over 500 brands to over 8 million customers.

The partnership is just the latest in a highly active year for Slyce, which raised $8.7 million in May and launched visual search fashion app Craves in July. Similar to its deal with Neiman Marcus, Slyce will generate revenue from the integration through software licensing and per search fees.
