PetalMD acquires physician scheduling company Workoptics

Quebec City-based PetalMD is looking to cement its position as a one-stop shop for physician productivity tools. The company announced the acquisition of Workoptics, a cloud-based workforce management platform for staff scheduling in healthcare.

The announcement comes five months after PetalMD acquired Medago, an e-prescription startup offering a mobile app that allows doctors and dentists to send prescriptions from their smartphones.

“We are very happy with this acquisition. It meets our short term goal of consolidating the Canadian market for physician scheduling,” said Patrice Gilbert, CEO PetalMD. “With a third of all Canadian physicians already on the PetalMD platform, we are well on our way to connecting and improving scheduling workflows for all Canadian physicians.”

PetalMD currently has 29,000 physicians using its network, and recently partnered with iamsick.ca to offer appointment booking through the website.
