PayPal partners with Vancouver’s Control to develop a merchant analytics mobile app

Control payments

Big news for Vancouver-based online payments analytics platform, Control. The HIGHLINE portfolio startup announced today that it has secured the rights to develop the first merchant analytics mobile app for PayPal. The partnership comes just two months after Control closed an oversubscribed $1.5 million seed round from Vanedge Capital and BDC Capital.

“PayPal’s technology supports a massive global audience,” said Kathryn Loewen, Control’s CEO and founder. “We’re proud to be working with PayPal to provide analytics and tools for their business customers to stay on top of their revenue from PayPal sales and have the ability to make more educated business decisions.”

Similar to Control’s work with Stripe and Paymill, the mobile app will allow PayPal sellers to track and manage their payments in real time. Loewen had previously told BetaKit that the company’s early support of Stripe over PayPal was a strategic growth priority for the company, but Control’s stated mission is to be a platform-agnostic analytics service. For its part, PayPal seems quite happy with the partnership.

“We are delighted to work with Control,“ said Kevin Zemnickis, PayPal Canada’s mobile business development manager. “Through this collaboration, more than 250,000 of our small business customers can track and interpret their payments in real-time and make better business decisions with Control’s analytics and payments monitoring tools.”
