Mnubo, a Montreal-based Internet of Things data analytics company, has announced that it’s working in partnership with national irrigation management systems company Hortau.

It’s a partnership that demonstrates the growing co-operation of traditional industries — like farming — and emerging internet technologies.

“Smart agriculture epitomizes the huge global impact possible with IoT analytics solutions. It is also a market that will increasingly expand its use of sensors and external data sources to improve resource utilization and crop yields,” said Dan Shey, vice president of B2B Services at ABI Research and a renowned global IoT analyst. “As a result, application providers need to choose analytics platforms such as those from mnubo that not only scale to increasing data volumes and variety, but also provide real-time insights using a suite of diagnostic and predictive analytics tools.”

With 25,000 sensors installed across 600 farms spanning the US and Canada, Hortau aims to tap into the value of farm data to increase sustainability and productivity for farmers. As mnubo provides a real-time, built for IoT data analytics platform, this partnership provides an opportunity for Hortau to extract business value from sensor and events data.

“Hortau’s market leadership and patented technology strongly positions them to deliver additional value to the growers based on strategic insights from their irrigation data,” said Frederic Bastien, CEO of mnubo. “Data science and machine learning on farm data, are key to the optimization of global water reserves and maximizing crop yields. This collaboration brings together Hortau’s rich industry experience and mnubo’s unique ability to create business value from sensor data making the agriculture industry smarter.”
