Kreyonic added to HYPERDRIVE Cohort 3, becomes its first international startup

Communitech recently announced its third group of startups to join their HYPERDRIVE accelerator program. In total, 11 startups made the cut: Apollonia Health, AvidTap, Commission Pitch, Market Cloud, RENOMii, Roadmunk, StrataVox, Studybucks, Tacit Innovations, Togethr and Smile Epidemic.

Today, Communitech declared its effort to attract ‘promising ventures from around the world’ and has expanded the list by adding its first overseas participant. Kreyonic Ltd. of Sri Lanka has become part of Cohort 3 and is the 12th startup to take up space within Communitech.

According to its website, Kreyonic creates ‘super awesome interactive educational tool for KIDS
that runs on your Smartphone and Tablet.’ Deeper digging reveals that it’s a self-directed gaming platform that combines interaction with toys and a virtual environment that’s specifically targeted for kids between the ages of 2 to 6. The startup has 3 founders: Amani Soysa, Lahiru Lakmal Priyadarshana and Dasun Priyankara Kulathunga.

“As with all of our HYPERDRIVE companies, Kreyonic will find in Waterloo Region a concentration of mentors, resources and peers with whom to share ideas that is rare anywhere in the world. We’re thrilled to welcome Kreyonic as our first international participant and I am confident it is the first of many,” said Iain Klugman, CEO of Communitech.

Kreyonic will also be part of the 6-month accelerator program. As previously reported, Communitech revamped its structure to have the first 3 months be a sprint that concludes in a Demo Day in Waterloo on October 18th, then the following 3-months will focus on sales and marketing with an additional Demo Day in Toronto.
