iVentures conference wants to be a marketplace for digital media

Interactive Ontario, a not-for-profit trade organization which works on fostering growth in the province’s interactive digital media industry, will be hosting the 10th-anniversary edition of its iVentures conference between October 26 to 27 in Toronto’s MaRS Discovery District.

The iVentures conference, formerly known as GameON: Ventures, previously only focused on the business side of gaming. Interactive Ontario said that this year, the conference would expand its vision and scope to explore and celebrate all forms of interactive digital media (IDM).

“To celebrate our 10th anniversary of this conference, we’re excited to be expanding our scope to include all of the industries IDM intersects.”

Attendees of iVentures will specifically have the opportunity to explore three main streams: Ideas to Watch, which will dive into innovation in technology, business models, and content; GameON, which will explore the business side of video games; and collaboration, which will focus on building partnerships between IDM producers and other sectors like healthcare and education.

Interactive Ontario said attendees will be able to enjoy keynotes, panels, and hands-on demonstrations of new technologies in the IDM space, which encompasses virtual reality, augmented reality, robotics and chatbots, AI, and eLearning.

“Ontario’s Interactive Digital Media industry is a major economic player, accounting for $1.5 billion in GDP in 2015, and expected to grow exponentially,” said Christa Dickenson, president and CEO of Interactive Ontario. “To celebrate our 10th anniversary of this conference, we’re excited to be expanding our scope to include all of the industries IDM intersects. This new focus will allow Interactive Ontario to continue its goal of creating business opportunities while highlighting the wide variety of everything that’s new and noteworthy in digital content.”
