Fresh City makes first acquisition with Fresh Canteen

Fresh City Farms

Toronto-based Fresh City, an online grocer and city farm that delivers organic, local groceries, announced an acquisition that will make its company even fresher.

Fresh Canteen, a Toronto-based recipe kit company, is Fresh City’s first acquisition. As Fresh City offers recipe bags that can include up to two to five meals per week, the acquisition will strengthen its position as an organic online market.

“We are excited to welcome Fresh Canteen customers to the Fresh City family,” said Ran Goel, CEO of Fresh City. “They can look forward to our meals that not only taste delicious, but are also organic and locally focused, sometimes from our own Toronto farm.”

Fresh City’s recipe bags start at $7.75/portion, and feeds up to four people. There are over 800 grocery items found in Fresh City’s online market, many of which are sourced from farmers around Ontario. Goel indicated that Fresh Canteen will operate for a few more weeks until customers are transitioned to Fresh City.

“We want to thank our loyal customers,” said Vince Saroli, founder of Fresh Canteen. “They will be well served by Fresh City, not only for meals but also for farm fresh groceries.”
