Former Sun Life Financial executive Lori Casselman joins LEAGUE as first chief health officer

LEAGUE, which raised a $25 million USD Series A in June, has found its first chief health officer in Lori Casselman.

The role was created for Casselman, who acted as assistant vice president in various capacities at Sun Life Financial — including the areas of health and wellness, practice excellence and innovation, and integrated health solutions.

“The healthcare system needs a multidisciplinary, consumer-oriented approach to address prevention, education and treatment opportunities,” said Casselman. “Technology can enable and empower consumers to understand and manage their own health in ways we have yet to imagine, and there is tremendous potential to change the traditional landscape of health benefits. I am so inspired by what LEAGUE is building and what they’re aiming to achieve.”

Casselman has over 20 years of leadership in the health, wellness and insurance industries. Before Sun Life, she was an executive with Buffett & Company, a health and wellness startup acquired by Sun Life Financial. She has also held positions on several industry advisory boards, including the Sanofi-Aventis Healthcare Survey, Health, Work & Wellness Conference, and Get Active Toronto.

“Lori is the perfect addition to our team and we’re excited to have someone with her experience help us further develop our professional network and support the creation of new programs,” said Michael Serbinis, CEO of LEAGUE. “Her background, coupled with her unique point of view on health benefits, makes her an amazing addition to the LEAGUE portfolio. We’re lucky to have her.”
