C100 has officially announced that Calgary native Laura Buhler will act as C100’s executive director.
For the past few years, Buhler has held various positions at Hudson Bay-owned Gilt, most recently acting as its senior director of business development at Gilt. She has also acted as a consultant at McKinsey & Company and a project manager at the World Economic Forum.
“I am so excited to begin working for Canada. The country is currently producing some of the most exciting technology startups and initiatives in its history,” said Buhler. “By leveraging our Silicon Valley network, skills, and experience, we aim to help Canadians build great companies at home that can lead globally.”
Buhler succeeds C100’s interim executive director Terry Doyle, though Doyle will continue to serve as co-chair of the C100’s board of directors alongside Angela Strange.
“This is a unique time in Canada, and we hope to deploy the full capabilities of the C100 network to help drive innovation at home,” said Doyle. “We are excited to welcome a new leader with a strong passion for Canadian entrepreneurship and a deep understanding of the organization’s capabilities to help us play our part in unleashing a nation of innovation.”
Twice a year, the C100 brings 20 promising Canadian companies to Silicon Valley through its 48 Hours in the Valley program, which invites companies for an intensive two days of mentorship and investor meetings. The organization also works to build a network for Canadian entrepreneurs thinking about travelling to the Valley through its Ambassador program — which includes founders like Helpful.com CEO Dan Debow and Thalmic CEO Stephen Lake — and its C100 CEO Summit.
