Buffalo VC to Invite Toronto Startups to “World’s Largest Business Plan Competition”

A Buffalo, New York-based venture capital firm will be coming to Toronto today to talk about 43North, being labelled “the world’s largest ($5 million) business plan competition”.

Andrew J. Pulkrabek, Executive Director for 43North, will head to Hodgson Russ LLP at 150 King Street West in two hours to join a roundtable discussion and to “share his expertise on early-stage investing and how Canadian entrepreneurs can participate in the competition.”

43North said the competition is the largest business plan competition of its kind due to the prizes: a top cash prize of $1 million, along with six $500,000 prizes and four $250,000 prizes. Winners will also receive free incubator space for a year in Buffalo, and guidance from mentors related to their field.

The Toronto stop is all part of Pulkrabek’s “roadshow tour.” Throughout the roadshow he’ll present at Communitech and the Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship, sponsor a Startup Grind Toronto “fireside chat” with Robert Scoble, and host a series of 43North “info sessions” for interested students, startups, and venture capitalists, amongst other activities.
