Bridgit wins Google Demo Day Women’s Edition

It’s been an exciting year for Bridgit. The Kitchener-based startup has so far taken the top prize at September’s C100 startup competition, snagged $25,000 from the Communitech Rev demo day, and earned its place at Google Demo Day Women’s Edition, where the company was selected out of 450 applicants from around the world.

Now, the deficiency management tool for construction sites has ended the year with a bang, as it took the top prize from Demo Day, beating out of 11 other impressive startups. Bridgit was also the only Canadian team at Demo Day.

“One thing that really stood out was how you’re approaching customer acquisition and growth just in a very scalable way, especially in an industry that’s very fragmented and very hard to sell,” said Christine Tsai, founding partner at 500 Startups and Demo Day judge, about Bridgit’s win. “But talking about how you’re automating the sales process, you’re scraping to find addresses, and from there you’ve had a very systematic sales process and how you’re closing the deal.

For the Bridgit team, the exposure and recognition has been invaluable as they look forward to an exciting year in 2016; the company is planning to raise its Series A sometime next year, move outside of Communitech, and grow its team. “Google Demo Day was an amazing opportunity to share the stage with entrepreneurs from around the world,” said Mallorie Brodie, co-founder of Bridgit. “We’re continuing to expand aggressively across the United States. We already have several high-profile projects in New York City, which is the US city we targeted first.”

With three full days of events planned for entrepreneurs, Brodie said that it sparked a lot of interest from both Google team members and San Francisco investors. “The interest from investors following Google Demo Day will definitely bring us back to the Valley very soon,” said Brodie.
