BrainStation acquires Origami Academy

Last week, BrainStation announced that the company has acquired the Origami Academy, a Latin American digital learning institute based in San Jose, Costa Rica.

With locations in Toronto, Waterloo, New York, and Ottawa, this Costa Rica location is BrainStation’s first entry into Latin America. Origami’s operations will continue under the BrainStation brand.

“We have seen a gap between the training that traditional educational institutions in Latin America provide and what is needed in the marketplace for employees to succeed. Origami has done a great job of building a series of course offerings to bridge that gap and we are perfectly positioned to develop their offerings further and bring it to new markets,” said Hooman Bahador, the co-founder of Konrad Group, BrainStation’s parent company.

In addition to the acquisition, BrainStation will translate and deliver BrainStation’s North American offerings.  BrainStation Latin America will also hire managerial, educational, and technical staff across the region.

“Over the last two years we were successful at developing innovative offerings, which addressed a significant need, but achieving scale was something that required a strong partner,” said Mauricio Poveda, founder of Origami. “Origami has that in BrainStation, and as BrainStation Latin America we are just getting started on this new journey.”
