BetaKit Next selectee Sampler pitches a solution to in-store sampling on #TheDisruptors

When stores hand out product samples in-store, they lose out on potentially valuable data like who is buying their product following a sample, and what demographic is embracing it.

That’s where Sampler, the latest pitch on The Disruptors, comes in. Simply put, Sampler helps companies that traditionally hand out their product samples in-store move their sampling online, where they can target specific consumers and see if the sample converted to a sale.

“Brands can go into our system in order to upload offers that they’d like to distribute,” said Marie Chevrier, founder of Sampler. “They’ll say exactly who they want to distribute to, and from there Sampler finds the perfect customer for that sample and offer them the opportunity to claim that sample and deliver it directly to their home.

In early July, Sampler was the only Canadian startup selected for Unilever’s Foundry50 in Cannes. The company also had to spend time building the business in Birmingham after winning the DMZ’s Next Big Idea Contest. The company was also recently named part of the BetaKit Next.

“This is an example of how a traditionally boring business like product sampling can be a lot more interesting and high tech when you plug in all of the data that can be collected,” said co-host Amber Kanwar. “You don’t realize how much of that is missing when you take a sample off the street corner.”
