BetaKit and Canadian pre-seed fund and accelerator, HIGHLINE, have collaborated in the past to great effect, most notably this summer in Toronto with the one-two punch that was the TSX Canadian Tech Showcase and BetaKit IPO party.
This time, we’re taking our successful startup event playbook (innovation + networking = community building) national, landing in lovely Vancouver, just in time for Vancouver Startup Week! As partners in an incredible week of content it was only fitting that we team up with the BC startup community to deliver the goods.
Canadian Tech Showcase
HIGHLINE has partnered with the BC Technology Industry Association (BCTIA), in collaboration with Wavefront, the Vancouver Economic Commission (VEC), and Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) to connect international investors and corporate partners with Vancouver’s top entrepreneurs.
Hosted at the Startup City (the VEC’s Startup Week venue), the Canadian Tech Showcase will feature startup presentations from over 25 top Vancouver startups throughout the evening, followed by cocktails and networking thanks to the fine folks at CIX.
“We’re excited to see that HIGHLINE’s open collaboration model can act as a catalyst to accelerate other organizations working together, in the spirit of making the Vancouver ecosystem stronger,” Lauren Robinson, HIGHLINE’s Global Operations Director, told us about the impetus behind the Canadian Tech Showcase. “I’ve always believed in the concept of teaming up to do something more impactful, so we are thrilled to be partnered with our collaborators for this event, and I am excited to drive even more new initiatives in Vancouver going forward. Our hope is that this collaboration will bring a different level of awareness of what’s happening in the Vancouver Startup Community, both for the local community and internationally.”

The BetaKit Party, Powered by Microsoft
At BetaKit, we feel that startup events should be community building events, which is why we couldn’t be happier to be working with both Microsoft and the VEC to formally introduce ourselves to the Vancouver startup community.
Taking over Startup City after the Canadian Tech Showcase, the BetaKit party will feature a variety of tech integrations where Vancouver startups – like 3D printing manufacturer Tinkerine – demonstrate what the community has to offer. We’ve also pulled together a compelling list of entrepreneurs, investors, and community leaders offering their time to connect, mentor, or just hear a pitch – all with music and visuals worthy of a BetaKit party!
