Beauceron Security raises $500,000 to expand cyber risk management platform across North America

Fredericton-based Beauceron Security, a cybersecurity software developer, has raised a $500,000 seed round of funding.

The round was led by East Valley Ventures and Mariner Partners, and included $150,000 from the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation (NBIF).

Beauceron Security’s cybersecurity platform allows users to measure, manage, and monitor cyber risks based on people, process, culture, and technology. The company plans to use the funding to bring its platform to organizations across North America and help with its growth.

“We’re thrilled to have the support of some of the region’s top IT and cybersecurity firms as partners,” said David Shipley, CEO of Beauceron Security. “This will help us bring Beauceron to organizations of all sizes and will significantly aid in our growth plans.”

Beauceron Security, which launched at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in fall 2015, said it has attracted clients from multiple sectors including education, information technology, manufacturing, and government in Canada and the US. Among these clients is UNB, York University’s Schulich School of Business, Gaming Labs International, and the City of Fredericton.

Along with announcing funding, Beauceron Security said it is partnering with Bulletproof Solutions, an Atlantic Canadian tech company that will help Beauceron Security bring its technology to customers across Canada.

“We’re excited to invest in a startup with such huge growth potential, founded by seasoned industry experts who understand the market,” said Calvin Milbury, president and CEO of NFIB. “What impressed us the most was the interest they’ve received from customers already.”

Beauceron was a participant in UNB-based accelerator Energia Ventures’ first cohort. The company says Energia Ventures and UNB helped it develop and refine its cybersecurity platform, as well as prepare for its launch.
