BDC’s interactive financing infographic is everything you’d want from a government resource

BDC infographic

BDC, the Business Development Bank of Canada, has posted a new support resource for early stage startups looking for financing information. But it’s not the standard resource you’d expect to be produced by the BDC: the crown corporation has constructed a 90’s video game-themed interactive infographic.

The infographic provides startups financing tips through each stage of their lifecycle – inception, product development, commercialization, and growth – as readers guide two (male and female!) entrepreneurs through different stages in a hunt for gold coins. The presentation is fun and tongue-in-cheek, and the information is easily digestible and not overwhelming. I may have gone through a few times just to get more coins.

Attempts by large organizations to stay ‘with it’ can often lead to embarrassing failures, but BDC’s infographic walks the fine line between informative and engaging, making startup financing seem a little less daunting.
